The Water and the Wild Book Reflection

The Water and The Wild by K.E Ormsbee it is fiction and Adventure fiction.
This book is about a girl who lives an ordinary life. Her best friend Eliot is her only friend, the only person who cared about her. But Eliot has gotten very sick and doctors are starting to give up finding a cure for his disease. In Lottie’s backyard is a apple tree. A magic apple tree. The tree gives Lottie gifts every year for her birthday. The roots of the tree leads the other world. Lottie went to the other world to find a cure for Eliot's disease also the person who gives her the gifts.
My favorite part of the book is when Lottie meets one of the fairies for the first time. They became really close and had a strong bond. They were all so helpful towards Lottie.
The main character, Lottie, is brave. I know this because she was going through difficult tasks in the other world. She also wanted to the cure of Eliot's disease. She will do anything to save her best friend
I liked this book because it had a lot of things that wouldn't happen in the real world. Like fairies etc. and it made it really interesting. Why I didn't like this book was because there are parts where it gets boring, till the point where I didn't want to read it. But that doesn't really happen as much.
Yes, I will recommend this book to a friend because it was really interesting and if they like books that are fiction they will really enjoy this book.
If you were in another world what would you do?

This is where it ends Reflection

This is where it ends by Marieke Nijkamp and it is fiction.             2/18/18

This book is about a school shooting that happened while the school was at a assembly in the auditorium. The book is told from four different perspectives and it all happened in 54 minutes. My favorite parts might give out a lot of information of the book.

The main characters is Claire, Tomas, Autumn, and Sylvia and they are selfless. I know this because during the school shooting they didn't just think about themselves, they thought about others too. They tried to help as many students.

I like this book because it's how you expect a book about a school shooting to be. Very chilling and suspenseful. What I don't like about this book is that in each chapter there is 4 different perspectives. So you'll have to remember what happened in each of the students perspective so you can understand the next chapter. It was confusing for that reason. It was hard to remember what happened with each person. You might switch up the characters stories which will throw you off for the next chapter. But besides that, it is a really good book.

Yes I will recommend this book, because it very suspenseful like you don't know what will happen next. And it is pretty cool to be reading 4 different perspectives instead of one.

The lesson learned was to treat everyone nicely and don't say anything you don't mean because you some people might be going through something at home and might be to overwhelming and can't take it anymore.

My One Word

My one word is effort. In the new year there will be a lot of difficulties. This year I will be moving from middle school to high school. Everything will be much harder and difficult as the year goes on.
I choose effort because to be successful and to bypass all the difficulties you'll have to put in effort.
I can use my word in different aspects in my life. With family, even though I don't want to, I will put in effort by helping my mom clean, help with the food, and just help out around the house. I can use effort at school by trying my hardest during difficult times to be successful. Another way I can use my word is with friends. The friendship I have with my close friends is a strong bond that I want to keep. Putting in no effort will effect the friendship. Hanging with each other and talking to each other are ways to put in effort. If you don't talk to them or hangout with them, how is the friendship going to stay together? I would use this word all year to help make my year better.

The Lost Boy Reflection

The book is Called, The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer, and it's a Autobiography               12/11/17

This book is about the continuation of A Child Called "It". Dave finally been rescued from his mother and he's been put into 5 different foster homes. He'll stay at a home for a few months and move to another home. When he starts to get comfortable with the family, the school, and with the friends he made, he'll move to a different foster home and has to start all over. It was difficult for him to adjust. He has no place to call home. My favorite part is when he moved to a foster home that treated him amazingly. He was happy with this family, he made friends. He actually felt loved.

The main character is Dave and he's tough. I know this because in the book it talks about how he left his family and sometimes he start to miss his mom, dad, and siblings but he knows they aren't good for him and even if it's hard for him, he still moves on.

I liked this book because it showed Dave moving in with different families, and how his life started to change ever since he moved away from his mom, and now he's always so happy. A little boy who got abused, is now happy with his life. Why I didn't like this book is sometimes the book gets kind of got boring in some parts. It took a while to read those uninteresting parts. But besides that, it was a good book. Yes I will recommend this to a friend only if they read A Child Called it. The Lost Boy is less emotional unlike A Child Called It. But I really recommend reading A Child Called It first. The lesson that is learned in the story is that things will eventually get better. Dave was going through a lot in A Child Called It, but his life started to come together. He's now happy with his life and happy that he moved away from the person who was causing him all this pain.

A Child Called "It" Reflection

The book is Called, A Child Called "It"  By Dave Pelzer and it's a biography.                   11/1/17

This book is about a little boy, Dave, who gets abused by his mother at the age of 4 - 12 and he doesn't tell anyone or do anything about it because his mother brained washed him to do everything she says and too not get her caught. The book is very sad book so it's hard to find my favorite part of the book, but I liked the part when Dave went to the school nurse to talk to her, and she was telling him stuff, but the nurse made him feel welcome and that he can talk to her if anything and Dave felt happy that someone actually cares about him. He's been through a lot of pain lately and I felt like what the nurse told him brightened up his day or even his whole week.

The main character is Dave and he is brave. He's brave because during many years of being abused he manage to fight though it all. He doesn't want his mom to be the reason he doesn't want life anyone, he is going to fight back until everything ends. I know this because in the book Dave talks about how he doesn't want to cry for her anymore, and he wants all this to be over already. Even though he feels like he's going to end up dying, he will always stay strong and try to fight thought it.

Why I liked this book is because of how brave Dave was during this situation. Even thought he was getting abused he still fought thought it, and this proves that even though there are times were you feel like giving up, don't, because things will get better. Even if it takes years, just try your best and fight though it. Why I didn't like this book is because what his mom was doing to Dave, how she punishes him. The things she does to him gets worst and worst. And I just don't like how he is just a little boy still growing up and he gets treated like this. I will sort of recommend this to a friend. One reason I won't because it is a sad book and for those who aren't really into all that stuff wouldn't enjoy it and will have a hard time reading it. A reason I will recommend this book is because child abused is a very serious topic and should be discussed. Child abused can happen to anyone, and at any age. The theme of the book is to appreciate the little things you have. A lot of people worry about what clothes and shoes brands they wear, but Dave never had new clothes, or a bed to sleep on. Little things like sleeping on a bed, getting a glass of water, and getting food means a lot to Dave because he doesn't get that stuff, he'll be happy with at least a cover to sleep with.

The Outsiders Book Movie Comparison

In the poem “What Love Isn't” and “The Outsiders” both share a common theme which is Love.

In What Love Isn’t its says, “It is discomfort — it is
not what the films say. Only songs get it right” This means that in films about love and relationships it shows the good side to relationships, the side where there's no arguments and fights. In songs it talks about all sides of relationships the bad and good. The reality of being in a relationship and how it's not perfect and it also talks about the good things about relationships.

This connects to the theme of the Outsiders because the relationship they all shared had problems and arguments but they also had good times they shared together.

In the poem it says, “It is not a five star stay.” If you give a hotel five stars it was a great stay. No problems, everything was perfect. They are staying relationships aren’t like that, all relationships aren’t perfect, every relationships has problems.

This connects to the theme of the Outsiders because the relationship they all shared isn't a five star stay, there is problems that goes on but it is also not a 0 star stay, there are good things that happens between them all. In the Outsiders they talked about how nothing gold can stay, meaning we always lose something in life that means a lot to us. Like how PonyBoy, SodaPop, Darry lost their parents, their parents meant a lot to them. Also how Dally and Johnny died and how nothing gold can stay. That's what they been talking about a lot during the Outsiders.

What Love Isn't and the Outsiders shared a common theme about love, how every relationship isn't always perfect. There are problems that goes on but it's not always filled with problems, it also have memories they all have with each other.
